The name “Samudra” has origins in Sanksrit, Bahasa and other regional languages – and means convergence of waters, referring to an ocean or sea. The Partners see this as aligned with the firm’s values and objective to bring together and combine key elements to deliver a ‘blue ocean’ or growth ‘moat’ strategy.

Investment Focus

Our target investment is a profitable business with demonstrated track record, clear points of differentiation and a strong middle management team.

We take a long-term approach, looking to retain the foundations built by the existing team. We are seeking to buy a business from owners interested in selling for non-business reasons, such as retirement or lifestyle change.

  • Competitive dynamics that can sustain differentiation
  • Flexible on sector, outside highly regulated and capital-intensive industries (such as utilities and resources)
  • Low threat of a major shock, e.g. significant change in regulations or technology

  • Annual EBITDA of ~A$1–5m
  • Stable, resilient client base, including high levels of retention and recurring revenue
